One thing I love about children is their imagination. Especially when they start to identify with different jobs and professions as “who they want to be when they grow up”. I want to use that sentiment to remind entrepreneurs of what their business should be to “grow up” and meet desired revenue goals by using other professions as an example. I think this will be fun but great reminders. In fact, I came up with more than my usual four points. _

Be like a doctor. Stop allowing clients to come to you and tell you what they want. Instead, be like a doctor. Take a proper assessment like an expert, then tell them what they need.

Be like a teacher. If clients don’t know something they should to get the help that they need, then educate them. If they know and simply need an opportunity that will help, then extend the opportunity (your offer).

Be like a chef. Use your expertise, blend the ingredients (what they need and what you can do) together to give them what they pay you for, but always be in the kitchen refining and cooking up better ways. Following the recipe can prevent you from feeling imposter syndrome.

Be like a mechanic. Don’t just charge for the out-of-pocket simple and cheap parts. Also, charge for the labor and the transformation of your work.

Be like an architect. Design a solid business structure based on clarity, goals, and strategies to get there. Then be guided by that blueprint to build what you want, instead of doing what everyone else is doing, constantly changing course before even completing your blueprint, and other willy nilly actions.

Be like a firefighter. When fires break out, don’t panic. Instead of focusing on the little fires, go to the heart of the matter first and then extinguish the smaller, less negatively impactful fires. Then take what you’ve learned and create both a guide to avoid it and a contingency plan on what to do if it happens again.

Be like a journalist. Communicate effectively to convey the proper message to your ideal clients. Instead of just talking about your offer, do research, gather information, and craft compelling stories that resonate with the people who need your offer.

Be like a mother. She gives her kids chores so to teach them and so that she isn’t doing every single thing to keep the household going. At some point, you need to start enlisting help. Even if it starts with small things.
